Week in Review: Nov 13 to Nov 19

A look at the top stories in Massapequa for the past week.

Traffic issues were a concern in the village of Massapequa Park this week as citizens requested a new stop sign and weighed in on the traffic censors on Park Boulevard. 

There was also a scary scene on Adam Road in Massapequa on Tuesday. We learned the latest in the County legislative race that hasn't ended and it was a special week for us here at Massapequa Patch.

The approach of the holiday season took a frightening turn, when a contractor trying to hang Christmas light struck a power line and was seriously injured by the shock and fall.

Concerned parents asked for and received a stop sign in both directions at the intersection of Broadway and Pennsylvania Avenue in Massapequa Park. Mayor James Altadonna also said he'd look into the busing controversy in the Massapequa school district to see if he can be of any assistance.

A few weeks into the experiment with parking sensors ion Park Blvd. in Massapequa Park, area business people and residents were split on whether they like the idea or not.

The County Legislative race in the 14th District between incumbent Republican Joe Belisi and Democrat Eva Pearson is still up in the air, but absentee ballots could be counted as early as Monday.
