Week in Review: Oct. 30 to Nov. 5

A look at the top stories in Massapequa for the past week.

As we approach election day, politics dominated much of the news in Massapequa last week, but we also had a troubling robbery on Sunrise Highway.

Police also asked for the public's help in catching those responsible for two other crimes in the area. But not all the news was bad, we met a very talented McDonald's worker and some creative kids in Halloween costumes.

With voters going to the polls Tuesday, Patch gave you a look at all the candidates in their own words. We heard from the Republican and Democrat running for Town Supervisor;  TOBAY town council Democrats and Republicans  as well as the candidates for Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes. We also heard from the GOP and Democratic candidates for Town Council as well as the Republians and Democrats running in the 14th legislative district and in the 12th district.

A purse snatching outside the Dollar Tree store left a woman shaken, but not hurt. Police were looking for help in solving the crime.

Police also released photos and video in two other serious incidents.  One was September's arson fire at the Broadway CVS. A possible suspect is seen leaving the building. A photo of a suspect who may be responsible for using a phony ID for withdrawing from somebody else's account at citibank was also released.

We met a remarkably talented McDonalds employee this past week. Elisa Trigg of Massapequa is competing to be a finalist in the company's "Voice of McDonald's singing contest.

Finally, we had a Headless Body in a Peerless Costume this week. was selected the winner of Patch's Halloween costume contest.
