It hit home locally this week with a protest outside the Verizon store over the phone company's practices.
The Long Island Progressive Coalition sponsored the protest claiming Verizon is pocketing large profits without paying a fair amount of tax.
But the company insists they've complied with all tax laws and has paid billions in taxes since 2006.
