Michael Venditto Elected to Full Term

Republican Nassau County Legislator wins in 12th Legislative District.

For the second time in the space of a year, area voters are sending Michael Venditto to the Nassau County legislature.

Venditto, who ran unopposed on Tuesday's ballot, easily coasted to victory Tuesday. He will serve a two year term.

With 100 percent of the vote Venditto had 99 percent of the vote, with a mere 67 voters choosing write-in candidates.

Venditto's easy night was created last month when a state appellate court ruled last month that Democratic Party nominee Gregg Roth did not live in the 12th legislative District at the time of the September Primary. Roth was taken off the ballot.

A year ago Wednesday, Venditto, the son of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, won a special election to replace Peter Schmitt who died suddenly a month earlier. In that election Venditto easily defeated Democratic nominee Joanne Maglione almost two thirds of the vote.

Prior to becoming a legislator, Venditto served a lead Counsel for the Town of Hempstead.
