We must stay the hell out of Syria

Full Disclosure #1:  I voted for Obama and I would vote for him again.
Full Disclosure #2:  I have a son in the Air Force.  Although this does not influence the following opinion, it's only fair for me to disclose this.

Facts:  Syria is its own, independent country, experiencing a civil war.  The fact that the government has used chemical weapons against civilians is atrocious. There is no proof that anyone in Syria is harboring terrorists or any other faction planning to attack us.

Opinion:  The United Nations was created to monitor and intervene in precisely this kind of situation.  Please notice I said the United Nations, not the United States.  While I strongly agree that the use of chemical weapons is an atrocity, despicable and should be condemned, I do not agree that the United States of America should bypass the United Nations and decide what activities throughout the world deserve our intervention.  We have plenty of problems right here, in the USA, which deserve our attention.
To put it bluntly, if my neighbor was beating his wife, that doesn't mean that I go over and kick his ass.  As awful as his actions are, there are authorities created to deal with that (the Police, the Town, etc.).  My duty, as a concerned person, citizen, neighbor, would be to call the Police and report what I see.  Regarding Syria, our duty, as a concerned nation, is to push the UN to do its job.  End of Story.  What do you think?
