It's a Puurfect Time of Year to Adopt a Pet!

What a great time of year to adopt a pet!  With the temperatures dropping just a bit, its the perfect type of weather for taking some brisk walks with a new furry friend.  This week there are several great dogs and cats available for adoption right here in Wantagh that would love to become a part of your family.

After reading all about Taco, Holly, Ms. Sweetie, Ashley, Monty and Missy, please continue on for information about a free rabies clinic offered by Last Hope Animal Rescue on Sunday, September 29th!

Our first pooch will have you saying "Yo quiero Taco" in no time...Taco (pictured) is a 3 year old male Chihuahua/Pug who comes to Last Hope as a stray from West Virginia.  Taco is a doll who e gets along with kids, dogs and cats alike. Taco is mellow but also likes to play- the perfect recipe for a great family dog.  Please visit Taco at Last Hope Animal Rescue today!!

Next up, meet Holly (pictured).  Holly is a beautiful Beagle mix, about 5 years old and weighs approximately 58 pounds.  Holly found her special someone at Last Hope two years ago, but due to health and mobility reasons, her elderly owner must now move cross country to live with relatives and must leave Holly behind.  Holly is described as an outgoing pooch who would make (and has made) a great companion.  Please consider adopting this great lady today.  For more information on Holly, check out Last Hope's website at http://lasthopeanimalrescue.org/2013/08/holly-3/

If you more of a cat person, there are some great felines available at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.  To start things off, please allow me to introduce you to Ms. Sweetie (pictured). Ms. Sweetie is 7 years young, and certainly lives up to her name.  She is spayed, up to date on all of her shots, tested negative for aids/leukemia, and most of all- loves to be petted!!!  She's not a fan of shelter cages and would love to go home with a loving family today.  Ms. Sweetie is front declawed so she would do best as an indoor cat.

Ashley (pictured) is a female/spayed 3 yr old kittie who has tested negative for aids/leukemia and has all age appropriate shots.  I have to say, this picture really cracks me up- what a personality this little missy must have. Ashley is known to be a very sweet girl who would love to snuggle at your feet tonight.

And for you dog lovers, the Town of Hempstead has many marvelous pooches for adoption including Monty and Missy!   Monty (pictured) is a 1 year old male, mix breed (looks like a cross between a Lab and a Pit) and is one handsome fella. Monty is very social, more so with other people than other pooches, and would do well in a home with kids in their teens and up. Check out that picture- that's some grin that little guy has...and if you think he looks happy now, just wait until you bring him home!

Another picture perfect beauty is our gal, Missy (pictured).  Little Miss Missy is a 2 year old female mix breed who, as you can tell by her snapshot, loves attention!  While Missy is a shy gal, she would be great with young kids and would be honored to be a part of your family.  Both Missy, Monty and other great animals available for adoption can be found on the Town of Hempstead's website at http://toh.li/animal-shelter

As always, thanks for reading- and I'd like to send a special Happy Birthday to one of my favorite rescues, our dog Pepper.  We adopted Pepper from Last Hope over a year ago, and today our lovely lady turns 2! Happy Birthday Pepper!!!
