National Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month Continued!!!!

As the month of November comes to an end, so does National Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month.  But it ain't over yet... and quite frankly, we should be celebrating these wonderful animals every month because any animal lover will tell you that animals are like fine wines; they only get better with age!

This week there are 4 super seniors all looking for their perfect retirement home. Please let me introduce you to Hazel, Heer, Josh and Cornelius.

First up is Hazel (pictured in the very awesome Hawaiian shirt).  Hazel is a Pit mix, approximately 10 years old, who has had quite a tough life.  Although you'd never know it from meeting her, Hazel is the product of an abusive situation and while currently staying at the NYC ACC, she is waiting patiently for her forever home.  I heard about Hazel through an amazing group of volunteers known as Fur Friends in Need.  They are working tirelessly to find Hazel a loving foster family so that she can finally get the love she deserves... why not let that person be you!   Anyone who is interested in fostering her can go to Fur Friends in need website and fill out an application at http://www.furfriendsinneed.com/how-to-adopt.html.

And available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter are 3 of the sweetest seniors you ever wish to meet:  Heer, Josh and Cornelius.

Heer (pictured) is about the cutest Pomeranian the world has ever seen! Heer (pronounced ‘here’) is a 17 year young female whose owner recently passed away which is why she was brought to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.  Heer is a laid back lady who lived with her senior owner and is known to be a well behaved beautiful girl.  Heer would do best in a quite home without other pets. Why not open your home to this sweetheart today?!

Josh (pictured) is an extremely sweet, 12 year old bichon who is so desperately looking for his retirement home.  Bichon has some medical issues -- ACLs and cataracts (who doesn't at age 84...12 dog years times 7), but he is just the sweetest thing; not aggressive, loves being picked up and held, and is even crate trained.  It would be best if he could leave his current shelter environment as soon as possible and placed in an adult only home.

Cornelius (pictured) is a 10 year young male/neutered kitty who loves to talk your ear off while getting petted.  He is super sweet and would love to become a part of your family.  Don't let his age fool you... cats can live up to 20 years so he's only half way there.  I have 2 senior kitty's well over 10 and they are full of life, love and energy!!
