MASSAPEQUA GIRLS VOLLEYBALL - LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONS

For 14 straight years Massapequa has won the Nassau County AA Girls Varsity Volleyball Championship.  This year, for the first time since 2007, they have captured the elusive Long Island Championship and will head to Glens Falls to represent the Long Island Region at the State Championships.

Powered by a full team effort, this young powerhouse with only one returning starter battled their way to a 3-1 win (25-16, 13-25, 25-17, 25-10) over a powerful Smithtown East team.  After being down 6-1 in the fourth game, the Pequa girls rallied back to tie Smithtown at 7, as point-by-point they reeled off an unbelievable 24-3 run to put the game away by a score of 25-10.  It’s off to States for the second time in 6 years.
