Good?

Good?

The word conveys peace and order, and enthuses thoughts of equanimity and fairness. Webster’s Dictionary defines good as “beneficial, healthy, pleasant, effective, virtuous, reliable, and honorable.” This covers a wide breadth of territory as each explanation conjures feelings of well-being and justice. It also implies that everything is flowing, and all is well. Old pretexts have been abolished, and balance has been achieved. This sounds wonderful, but the truth is it depends on one's position and perspective. Like most things in life, it is relative to time, circumstance, and the human condition.
Where is the good in Good Friday for Jesus? It didn't prove to be “beneficial, healthy, or pleasant” for Him. His Passion was torturous and grueling; it was also prophesied and awaited. Each blow, every mocking word, and hurled sour spit added to the already insurmountable weight of the cross. He who knew no sin would pay for everyone’s. He moved forward allowing the injustice, and was fully cognizant of His fate.
He was nailed to the cross, and His blood was spilled. These are our free passes permitting us to be dipped into eternal life. Salvation was paid for in full for everyone, by One. He lit the way; He still does. What erroneously appeared to be the end on the cross was truly the beginning.
Jesus’ vulnerability was evident. Far from a sign of weakness, it was a radiant facet of His clear, pure being that was not burdened by the ills and spoils that man accumulates, and sets up as a fortress around his heart. All of these falsehoods and pretensions keep The LORD out too. What will you remove that confines you?
Good Friday is good for us. We received all of the Grace while avoiding the struggle and turbulence. He spared us, and gave us His Peace and His Life.
“Effective, virtuous, reliable, and honorable”, those are all His.

John 3:16-17, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
