Accident, Hanging Wires Prompt Merrick Road Shutdown

Merrick Road in Massapequa shut until further notice after collision.

A two-car accident resulting in hanging electrical wires prompted Nassau County Police to shut down Merrick Road in Massapequa, cops confirmed.

Two cars collided at Ocean Avenue and Merrick Road early Wednesday afternoon, police said. The accident brought down electrical wires.

Police said the road will be closed until PSEG crews can safely secure the scene.

Traffic is currently being diverted north onto Hicksville Road.
