Car Involved in Police Chase Crashes in Massapequa
Suffolk and Nassau Police involved in pursuit.
A vehicle suspected of being stolen crashed in Massapequa while trying to flee police Friday, cops said.
Officers responding to a LoJack alarm saw a truck that matched the description of the missing one and tried to pull it over in Amityville at 6:10 p.m.
The truck fled West on Sunrise Highway and police gave chase. The Suffolk cops were joined by Nassau police as the chase went into Massapequa.

“I was coming down Sunrise Highway and about to make a right onto Broadway and a truck just plowed into me," the driver of the other car, who asked not to be named, said.

"He hit me, hit the light pole and the light fell down on my hood and glass shattered everywhere. Then he kept going and the cops kept right after him. When he hit the curb his tire came off but he kept running away from the cops."
Miraculously, nobody was hurt in the mayhem, as the driver tried to continue for another tenth of a mile with just three wheels.
"As soon as he took off, the cops just blew right past me and I realized it wasn’t just the accident they were there for," the other driver said.
Helicopters were also used to search for the suspect who was taken into custody a short time later.
Police were checking to see if the vehicle was actually stolen, and charges were pending.
