Cops: Massapequa Teacher Found with Heroin During Traffic Stop

A Massapequa teacher from Rockville Centre faces drug possession charges after she was found with heroin during a traffic stop, police said.
Kerri Creegan, 33, was pulled over in Freeport at 3 p.m. Wednesday for having a defective tail light, cops said. During the stop, police said they found her to be in possession of "glassine bag of heroin."
Creegan was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Creegan is a ninth grade social studies teacher at Massapequa High School's Ames campus, according to district records.
"The district received a call from the Nassau County Police Department late Wednesday regarding this arrest," the district said in a statement, according to Newsday. "As this is a personnel matter and an active investigation, we cannot comment further at this time. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement in all aspects regarding this incident."

Ames campus students begin final exams Monday, according to the finals schedule.
The status of Creegan's employment is unknown.
Creegan will be arraigned June 23.
