Lindenhurst

A Babylon man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in connection to a in Lindenhurst that killed a teenager, police said.

According to police, Michael Grasing, 31, was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway near Buena Vista Boulevard when he allegedly struck the back of another vehicle that was also travelling westbound, causing the second vehicle to overturn and strike a utility pole.

The operator of the second vehicle, Lindenhurst resident Brittney Walsh, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. A police source told Patch that Walsh was a Copiague High School student who lived in Lindenhurst.

Grasing was charged by police with driving while intoxicated and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. He will be arraigned on a future date at First District Court in Central Islip.

New Hyde Park

A New Hyde Park man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Pennsylvania girl after giving her and other teenagers alcohol at a party during summer 2011. 

Frank Richard Neglia, 46, was . He allegedly gave alcohol to several teens at a party before committing the sexual assault.

According to the Wayne County district attorney's office, Neglia pled guilty Thursday to counts of aggravated indecent assault and statutory sexual assault as well as four counts of selling or furnishing liquor, malt or brewed beverage to minors.

Port Washington

A Port Washington man faces an assault charge after police say he almost hit a detective, and continued driving away.

detectives say Richard Fahey Jr, 61, made a left turn onto Main Street as a Nassau County Sixth Precinct detective was in the crosswalk. They say the detective put out his hands and jumped out of the way of the vehicle to avoid being struck. Fahey’s car veered, causing the detective to push off the vehicle a second time.

Fahey continued east on Main Street without stopping, police say. Soon after, however, he was located on Port Washington Boulevard, and arrested.

The detective was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Fahey is charged with third-degree assault, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Seaford

A community effort is underway to retrieve a Nouveau Spider Sculpture that was stolen from the in Seaford on June 9. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the return of the spider sculpture, which was on display in the front of the museum when it on April 22 after being closed for nearly two years for renovations. A flyer about the reward has been placed around the Seaford community including at , which provides a phone number of 516-277-2287 to call with any information on the sculpture’s disappearance. A message left by Patch at that number was not returned.

A spokeswoman at the Tackapausha Museum said the sculpture was being rented out as an exhibit and is not owned by Nassau County, which operates the wildlife center on 2225 Washington Ave. She said the legs of the sculpture have been located but the body is still missing.

Rockville Center

Just three days after a group of Rockville Centre teens allegedly  a 44-year-old village resident so badly they broke his ribs and put him in the hospital, police have arrested two  seniors and charged them with gang assault.

William Moore, 18, was arrested on June 20 and Matthew Diperna, 18, was arrested on June 21. Each was charged with second-degree gang assault — a C felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

According to a spokesman from First District Court, Moore was released on bail and DiPerna was released on his own recognizance.

Huntington

It took Suffolk County Police less than 48 hours to apprehend the alleged robber of the  in Deer Park.

Police charged Jennifer Crawford, 41, of Huntington, with one count of third degree robbery in connection with .

Police said the robber, wearing a black baseball cap, sun glasses and rubber gloves, approached a teller and announced a robbery. The teller handed over cash and the robber fled on foot last Tuesday at approximately 1:50 p.m.

Police declined to say what led to Crawford's arrest Thursday.

Kings Park

Luis Sanchez, who was arrested in August of last yea, has entered a plea of guilty.

According to court documents, Sanchez, 24, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Suffolk County Criminal Court to 10 felony charges, which include three counts of felony rape, four counts of a criminal sex act and three counts of predatory sexual assault. Court records show a DNA test was ordered in August of 2011.

According to police, the woman was jogging on Marvin Drive  around 6 a.m. on Aug 9, when she was approached and forced into a nearby wooded area and sexually assaulted.

Sanchez is due to appear in court on July 31 for sentencing.
