Detectives are calling a Massapequa Park bus driver's actions "appalling" after he allegedly drove a bus with five children on board while drunk and crashed into a Syosset home Wednesday.
Frederick Flowers, 66 of Massapequa Park, will likely have a bedside arraignment as he recovers in Nassau University Medical Center, facing twelve counts of DWI, reckless endangerment, and Leandra's Law violations.

"It's appalling," said Garcia, a father himself. "Nassau County Police Department, we pride ourselves on our arrest records…and here you have five children under the age of nine…on a bus."
Police reported that none of the children on board the bus were harmed, which Garcia said was simply a "miracle."

Flowers, while transporting students home from St. Edward the Confessor School, drove the bus into a Teibrook Avenue home at about 3:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, police reported. After he was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, said Garcia. Flowers' blood alcohol content was not reported.
Flowers has no arrest record in Nassau County, according to Garcia.
