shocked to see this girl, always see her in the area. People need help, addiction is awful. Always been a problem in Massapequa since I was in high school over 20 years ago. Spoiled rich brats living off mommy and daddy and using their money for drugs. I hope they have more undercover cops in the area especially near Starbucks.
Massa December 4, 2012 at 03:21 pm
Laketajo, they wouldn't have the problem if they didn't do it in the first place. Weakness is the word.... And anyone who can't control themselves and steals from others weak. I wouldn't be in their shoes because they don't fit. They are destroying their lives..... No one is to blame but themselves and the ones they are hanging out with.
David Rosenthal December 4, 2012 at 03:48 pm
I had my property stolen from my car parked on the street in Massapequa.
The thoughts of being violated, wondering who and why it happened. The whole experience consumed me for days. To steal from your neighbors is LOW. I hope they feel the disgust I felt and realize the problem rests within themselves.
Steve December 4, 2012 at 07:39 pm
Bad choices backed by Mommy and Daddy. Parents have NO backbone anymore. Give the kids what they want and if blows up in your face....
LAKETAJO December 4, 2012 at 08:15 pm
Education is power! This illness becomes a horrifying vicious cycle of..guilt...use...guilt...use. Understand? Why they start, who knows...they are kids who think nothing bad will happen to them. Then that fast they are addicted.
Erin December 5, 2012 at 12:57 am
Addition is real I get that. For me .I believe. It's a breakdown in family values
LAKETAJO December 5, 2012 at 02:21 am
Yeah...alot of families these days aren't even having dinner together. That's bc they are too busy making money to get more STUFF...cars, newest eletronics, designer clothes... Truely, where are the family values????
The Soup Nazi December 5, 2012 at 03:07 am
Dear ED......what does that have to do with anything. If a cop is working in a radio car then hes out there doing his best ( sitting in dunkin, 7-11, or the local FD). Why would it manner about new hires. I know its rough making it on $120,000, working three days a week in Manhassett, but try to grow up and understand that you are the highest paid cops in america
Massa December 5, 2012 at 02:21 pm
Laketajo..... Amen, we finally agree....lol. Yes, I think it is very important for family's to be together for dinner and share that time to talk and see what is going on with each others lives. I also agree and feel that familys these days try to out do friends and neighbors by getting more and more STUFF even when they are maxing out their credit cards. Family values need to be a structure in a family's life.
LAKETAJO December 5, 2012 at 11:53 pm
Massa... yes we do agree on the important things. But sometimes even when you try to do all the right things horrific issues that you pray don't knock your door come crashing through. It is my hope that drug addiction is recognized as a true illness and needs to be treated as such. We are living in very difficult times and need to wake up and step up our game.
ed December 6, 2012 at 12:26 am
@Soup Nazi sounds likes someone failed the police exam......btw NCPD isn't even the highest paid in Nassau let alone the country. Either way police deserve excellent pay and benefits in the 2nd RICHEST COUNTY in the nation! Yo ucan afford it!
The Soup Nazi December 6, 2012 at 08:23 pm
Dear Ed..no I never failed a police test....and I never failed a promotion test either ( figure out what that means). We are giving a test for police officer and people from all over the country are flying in to take it..why.......ITS AN EASY POLICE JOB COMPARED TO OTHER PLACES AND THEY ARE THE HIGHEST PAID COPS IN AMERICA !! The police department here is a joke and every citizen in Nassau Couty knows it. We respect the police, but they are spolied rotten out here and over paid. You know it..and every one else knows it.
ed December 7, 2012 at 06:19 pm
When your job has a polygraph and a proper background check you can make a better wage....sadly they take anyone like yourself.
cc December 8, 2012 at 04:55 pm
LMAO, yeah but I bet your big mouth voted for him didn't ya?
cc December 8, 2012 at 05:00 pm
Hey ed big police man, are you pro-union? They get all of those great benefits and good salary because of a decent union. Unless, you voted pro-union and against tax revolt party people, then I suggest you stop all your grandiose comments. I know a lot of Nassau County cops and every single one, stupidly voted for Magano, AGAINST their own professional interests and now they're all crying the blues (sorry for the pun). Get over it and if you don't like it now, change it up next time, until then give us all a break.
The Soup Nazi December 8, 2012 at 05:10 pm
ED....another great comment by you. " if your job has a polygraph" lol. What the hell doesthat mean. The NCPD is so backward its shocking. We had a cop sleeping wioth his girlfriend on the last shift in Massapequa on about 50 occasions for hours at a time and his supervisors didnt notice. Is that because they were all sleeping at the firehouse. There is no supervision, there is no pro active police work. The cops are all middle age guys who are more worried about their pension then fighting crime. They dont retire because its the easiest job in the world. the salary is killing the tax payers of nassau county. I say they declare bankruptcy void the contracts and start over again. Pay them 100,000 top...no nonsense like banking sick days.. Who in the private sector gets to bank sick days for 20 years and then get a check for over a 100,000...no one.
cc December 8, 2012 at 10:06 pm
I wouldn't care if the NCPD made a really awesome salary if they actually earned it. I can't speak for other precincts but the 7th leaves a lot to be desired!!!! They could bring in soooo much money to county in fines and tickets, but they make it clear they don't want to work or pursue the tickets in court up in Hempstead! Let's see how many school zones are marked in Massapequa alone? How often do ANY of us EVER see one of them enforcing those? I'm quite sure if the hit and run motorist who killed the Unqua mom was obeying the 20 mph speed limit, she might still be alive. "On patrol" means sitting parked at firehouse for over an hour or hanging out behind Tackapusha reading the newspaper. It starts from the top. Where is supervision? Why aren't they checking the GPS? Especially after the scandal of the NCPD who was supposed to be "protecting and serving" on patrol, hooking up with his mistress. Where is the great enforcement? If NYPD can reduce crime why the heck can't NCPD handle Sunrise Mall? Now they're constantly complaining about Mangano, didn't they endorse him? Yes!!!! They moaned and groaned over paying $35 a year in an energy tax...LOL!!!! Hope that was worth no salary hike and closed precincts!!! What a bunch of babies!!!!
Maureen December 9, 2012 at 12:32 am
From heroin addiction straight to resentment of the NCPD, that's the gist of the dialogue? I say, life is apparently harder for some than others. Let's lend a hand first and count on law enforcement when need be to mete out justice when warranted. Is that a possibility here in Nassau County or are we meant just to knock and begrudge? (not to mention hate)
ed December 9, 2012 at 03:55 am
@Soup...are you a disgruntled city supervisor or a tea party hypocrite or both? Make up your mind.....
ed December 9, 2012 at 04:02 am
@CC You want more enforcement untill they pull you over and write you a $400 school zone speeding ticket with 5 points on your license. Then you would be badmouthing them on here that all they do is "write tickets"
Massa December 9, 2012 at 09:28 am
We need cops that are going to do their jobs, not overpaid security guards. Ed, it dosnt make you a good cop because you passed a test or a polygraph. We as Nassau county residents have a right to be pissed because we all see that the cops in the suburbs don't do what they are getting paid to do.We see that they are NOT supervised and that they take advantage of it. The city cops on here have a right to voice their opinion, because they pay high taxes and want to feel safe while they are off duty and with their families. I don't think residents would be mad if we did see a increase in the work that Nassau does, all I see are cars in train station, firehouse and TOB Maintence blog parking lots three cars next to each other....please answer my question, WHAT ARE THEY DOING? And I don't want to hear about Mangano again, the Nassau cops endorsed him. And the next time I see a Nassau cop in the Verizon store shopping on duty again, I will tell him how Proud you are of him.
Massa December 9, 2012 at 09:51 am
Heroin is a big problem, but a good police Dept would do something about it and NOT make excuses. We need a pro active police Dept that cares and makes arrests and puts the dealers away. Less officers behind desks and more in narco units Get rid of the dead weight cops at the police academy sitting doing nothing while they haven't had a class in years.Does Nassau need some new cops, YES, but get the dead weight off the who are doing nothing. Can this area be cleaned up.... Sure it can, but we have to have good cops and programs set up to take care of the drug problems. We need community meeting with the precinct commanders, so they know our needs. This isn't much to ask for
cc December 9, 2012 at 11:52 am
@ ed that's the classic PD excuse, "the residents don't want us to write more tickets." BS!!!! Read all of these comments ed, the Masapequa residents are fed up with ALL of the NCPD nonsense! Fed up. We want more enforcement!!!! I personally obey school zones and don't care if I annoy the tailgating idiot behind me!!! ed your response is SO typical of EVERYTHING that is wrong with this police department. So essentially, the NCPD doesn't have ANY intention enforcing the majority of the laws in cushy precincts because the don't want to upset any resident taxpayers? But collect they're handsome paycheck to sit on patrols not patrolling? Complain they're being mistreated by local government....all while the South Shore turns into the Wild West. Yeah that pretty much sums up the 7th thanks!
Massa December 9, 2012 at 01:29 pm
Everyone is sick of it...... This has to stop. We shouldn't have to ask for decent service, it should already be provided. You can't compare NCPD to a real Dept such as the NYPD. , it is like comparing apples to oranges. I have heard some stories from friends who live on the water in Pequa and they were told right after the hurricane that they had to watch out for looters and were on their own , because NCPD was doing other things in the area. What professional says that to someone who's house was just destroyed? Maybe he pasted the polygraph, but has no common sense. Times are changing with drugs and other crimes, and this Dept needs to step up . This community treats them real well, and for them to take advantage of us is a slap in the face to real officers who care.
The Soup Nazi December 9, 2012 at 02:21 pm
Dear ED...do you see a common theme here. Everyone sees what goes on here, and all you can do is add shiity, mindless comments. I commented on the cop who was sleeping at his girlfirends for hours at a time and noone notice and you dont address it. Someone commented on the GPS system that WE the taxpayers put in each car. They should be monitoring that gps and making sure there cars are rolling...not parked in the back of the FD. We live here..we see it !!! The NCPD is one of the worse large departments in the country....period. I went to a meeting in DC on disaster response and they spent 3 hours making fun of the NCPD's response to the Avanca plane crash on the North Shore. The woman in westbury weas murdered after the patrol cops refused to up hold the order of protection. It goes on and on.
cc December 9, 2012 at 03:00 pm
Too right peeps! Massa, I saw more "protection" after Sandy from the State Police and the National Guard than NCPD!!!
Massa December 9, 2012 at 03:34 pm
Massapequa has more off duty officers from The NYPD living here on Long Island than any other town on Long Island. It is a slap in the face to them and the people who pay very high taxes to get treated like they do. The shooting off of front street about a year and a half ago, with the plain clothes officer getting killed by a MTA cop.... Where were the supervisors? Basic police work , it wasn't handled properly. The guy who attacked the first officers was already down, the threat was over.. So why did the plain clothes officer have to be there? And then they were pissed because they said the MTA cop shouldn't have been there. Come on, that could have been prevented.
Massa December 9, 2012 at 03:46 pm
I have friends who are officers in most of the Nassau precincts. The ones in the busy pcts, such as the 5th and 1st are always handling crappy jobs and dealing with danger.... Being cops. The ones in the slower pcts such as the 7th act like they are owed something......I don't know what that is, because they do what they want , eat and sleep where they want. That is just wrong, they are civil servants and deserve to give respect if they want respect. When I grew up here, I was always taught to respect officer ..... And I did, but not what these guys do.
haywood December 13, 2012 at 03:02 pm
Do you know how many city cops get arrested by Nassau and Suffolk cops each day? Come on Soup Nazi be real you sound bitter.
haywood December 13, 2012 at 03:05 pm
Wow CC you should have become a cop.....you sound like you could be the Ultimate Nassau RoboCop! Why didn't you take the police exam? We need you to serve us with tickets!

when you say elite do you mean the hard working people who have money? it's a matter of labels. youRead More call them elite..they call themselves hard workers. yes, some inherit money. but most of us work for it.
Michael Taustine June 16, 2013 at 09:01 pm
No, it has nothing to do with how hard you work. It's just that the elite one percenters are treatedRead More differently when they run afoul of the laws in this country. No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.

Will the new Massapequa station platform be covered end-to-end as it is now? If it will only beRead More partially covered, like Seaford station, there are going to be a lot of cold, wet, unhappy commuters.
Patrick O'Hara June 12, 2013 at 04:14 pm
Mr. Coyote, The design plans only call for a canopy over certain parts of the station platform, likeRead More almost all of the other stations along the branch. The canopies will be primarily over the staircases, elevator, waiting room, and one other small section on the middle section of the platform between the elevator and east escalator.

Also blocks along Alhambra Road including Granada and Sutton. It rained the other day and was up toRead More the front lawn on one house that is still being renovated from Sandy!!!! Horrible if those owners saw this.
