DWI Arrest on Southern State Parkway

Amittville man charged with Felony DWI.

An Amityville man was arrested after he drove drunk on the Southern State Parkway in Massapequa, state police said.

Shane Lewis, 29, lost control of his vehicle off the shoulder of the westbound side of the parkway and slammed into an embankment near the the Broadway exit at 8:34 p.m.

A trooper interviewed him and smelled alcohol. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

Lewis' breathalyzer showed he had a .25 percent blood alcohol content, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to police.

He was charged with felony DWI, because he's had at least one conviction in the last 10 years, police said.
