Dominic Barbara of Williston Park, who pled guilty last week on criminal contempt charges, will not be serving jail time so long as he stays out of trouble.
The celebrity attorney has pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal charges in connection with a September 2012 charge of violating an order of protection.
Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice had charged him with making indirect contact with his ex-wife, threatening to shake her down for $200,000. He also faced charges of choking his live-in girlfriend in his Williston Park home in August 2013.

Nassau County District Court Judge Helen Voutsinas adjourned that case in contemplation of dismissal, meaning if Barbara stays out of trouble for one year, the charges will be dropped.
He been arrested in December 2012 and charged with harassment, stalking, and attempting to extort $200,000 from his ex-wife by threatening to file false police reports and a false order of protection against her.

Barbara had violated a stay-away order of protection issued against him by Nassau County Family Court. Barbara also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct (a violation) stemming from an allegation of stealing a pocketbook from a retail store in Manhasset on Feb. 12, 2013.
"I am just ready to get my life in order," Barbara said to Newsday.
