Homeowner Surprises Burglar in Massapequa Park

Burglar flees from Cypress Street home.

A Massapequa Park homeowner stumbled upon a burglary when he entered his house Monday morning, Nassau County police said.

The owner of a home on Cypress street surprised the burglar, who ran out of the house and fled the scene in a car, shortly before 11:30 a.m.

It wasn't immediately known what if anything was taken, and nobody was hurt.

The owner called 911. Police did not immediately release a description of the burglar or the vehicle.

Wow that's pretty nervy of the burglar. Where on cypress? should have hit him with something.

My heart go out to the family we had an invasion 2yrs ago. We are still on extremely high alert. These creep are desperated they will do anything in these time. Please everyone should also be watching over their neighbors as well as themselves. Do not be afraid to get involved all you have to do is call 911 even if you are not sure every second counts and you could be put on hold by 911 for a minute or two thats what happened to us JUST CALL IT IN IF IT DOESNT LOOK RIGHT OR FEEL RIGHT ITS NOT RIGHT.

HELLO, I WOULD SUGGEST LOCKING THE BACK GATE WHEN YOU GO OUT AND MAKE SURE BACK DOORS AND WINDOWS ESPECIALLY ARE LOCKED.MOST BREAK INS HAPPEN IN THE BACK OF HOUSES HERE IN MASSAPEQUA.IF YOU SEE SUSPICIOUS CAR CALL 911 OR 7PCT. PLEASE TRY TO GET PLATE NUMBER.REMEMBER MASSAPEQUA IS STILL A LOW CRIME AREA AND BURGLARIES HAPPEN IN NICE AREAS TO EVEN THE GOLD COAST OF LONG ISLAND! AS FAR AS CAR BREAK INS MOST ARE ON UNLOCKED CARS WITH VALUABLES EXPOSED ON SEAT.

Teen Attacked on Merrick Road Young victim kicked in the stomach during attempted robbery in Massapequa. By Edward Robinson | May 4, 2012 A 16 year-old girl was attacked by a group who tried to steal her purse Thursday afternoon, police said. The victim, who was walking home alone, was approached by a group of five or six Hispanic girls who also appeared to be teens on Merrick Road near Ocean Avenye at about 3:20 p.m., according to cops. One of the gang knocked the victim's books out of her hands and demanded she give them money. When the victim reached down to pick up her books, the girl then kicked the victim in the stomach and tried to grab the handbag. Nothing was taken and the victim wasn't hurt badly. The girl who kicked the victim was l and was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, dark sweat pants, and black Jordan sneakers with pink soles, cops said. Police are urging anyone with information on this attempted robbery to contact the Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls are confidential.

A dog does not work, word from the burg over on 107 is they beat the crap out of the dog when they entered the victims residence

I WOULD SAY IF THERE WAS ANYONE ELSE WITH YOU AND YOU WERE ABLE TO SUBDUE THE BURGLAR, I WOULD BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF HIM, THEN PREPARE HIS JOHNSON FOR PERMANEMT SURGURY BUY USING A BUTCHER KNIVE, THEN MAYBE HE WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN TO ANYONE.

EverLike they say, see something, say something,it works. yone should be looking out for each other in your area. Any time you see a car or person in your neighborhood who dosn't look right, call the police, that is their job. Take down license plates and the description of the car and tell the 911 operator.
