Indictment in Cop Affair Case

Seventh Precinct officer Michael Tedesco faces 109 counts for allegedly visiting homes of two girlfriends.

Former Nassau County Police officer Michael Tedesco, based in the Seventh Precinct, was hit with a 109-count indictment Friday for allegedly conducting affairs at the homes of two girlfriends when he was supposed to be on duty.

Tedesco, 44, of Holbrook, faces 80 counts of official misconduct, a misdemeanor, as well as 25 counts of falsifying business records and four counts of tampering with public records, both felonies.

He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

According to prosecutors, in July 2011 Tedesco, who quit the police force after word of the scandal leaked, "fabricated a noise complaint at a woman’s home as a pretext to meet her," and an "intimate relationship ensued."

The cop also spent "considerable on-duty time," at the home of another woman, with whom he also had an intimate relationship, prosecutors said.

Tedesco allegedly failed to update the police department about his availability using the computer in his patrol car, as is required.

"On other occasions, he intentionally falsified data in the NCPD communications system to make it appear that he was responding to a call, even though GPS records show that he remained at a girlfriend’s home," DA Kathleen Rice's office said in a statement.

Even when he did answer calls, prosecutors charged that he would linger at the homes rather than rush to the scene. In one case there was a report of a possible cardiac arrest, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that both of the girlfriends lived a significant distance from Tedesco's patrol sector in the Seaford/Massapequa area.

Tedeco was investigated earlier this year by the Nassau County Police Internal Affairs Unit over his conduct at the home of Tara Obenauer, 42, a Wall Street executive from Massapequa.

Obenauer said in a newspaper interview earlier this year that Tedesco would have other officers cover for his absences, telling her, "Let the...newbies chase these kids from their parties and go to house alarm calls.’’

Prosecutors said the internal affairs investigation against Tedesco was launched when a neighor became suspicious about seeing a police cruiser parked in a girlfriend's driveway on a regular basis.

Obenauer asked for a restraining order in May against officer Tedesco and is also claiming Tedesco's actions have caused severe emotional and psychological damage.

A call to her home was not answered.

Tedesco spent hundreds of hours at the girlfriend's home between 2010 and February of 2012, according to the indictment. See PDF attached.

He spent almost four hours of a 10-hour shift at one of the homes between Sept. 11-12, 2011, according to the papers.

Tedesco lawyer, Kevin Kearon, told Newsday (paid site) his client should not be prosecuted.

"There's a big difference between allegations of disciplinary violations and criminal conduct," Kearon said. "Our position is no crimes were committed and we intend to defend that position."

Tedesco was released after paying $5,000 cash bail.

newsday reported "Ms. Obenauers legal papers say that she plans to sue Nassau Conty for $10 million for failing to supervise Tedesco by allowing him to visit her home during her shifts. and that she suffered severe emotional and psychological damages" ummmm, did Nassau County invite him over?? did they open the door to him??? did they have a relationship with him?? How is this anyone but Ms. Obenauers and Mr. Tedesco's fault???

This cop is a disgrace to his shield, and all the guys who are out there trying to do the best they can. He took advantage of his job, and he should pay a heavy price. Jail seems right for the amount of times he robbed us of our taxes. I read that he didnt resond to jobs when he was screwing the woman. This is a makor indictment of the NCPD and they they patrol our street. They should be banned from firehouses and other such place..patrol..means patrol..... his sergeants should also be demoted for failing to supervise his troops. Disgrace !!!

this tart lured the officer to her home and took advantage of him. she could'nt get enough of him so she invited him back over and over again. she even made him spend his lunch hours with her. she grew tired of him and cast him aside. she spoke to an attorney and they hatched a plan to make money on this.
Maria Iacopelli-Kowalski December 16, 2012 at 02:48 am
Bob Gee, How does someone "Make" a police officer spend their lunch hours with them? "she even made him spend his lunch hours with her." You are an ignorant fool.
bob gee December 17, 2012 at 02:02 am

Nassau county cops are arrogant and way overpaid. Keep upping my home taxes to pay for our police orgies. From Kate Murray to our over paid cops, Nassau county is a disgrace. Even our islanders went to Brooklyn. Time. To move out of here..
Giambona Jr December 18, 2012 at 03:09 am
The county should put a lien on his pension for the restitution to the tax paying public. Hopefully those charges will stick to him like shit. His supervisors should also be held accountable for his actions. There are many more corrupt cops and fat donut eating dectectives that do not do there jobs and deserve to be in jail like the common criminals that they are. The problem with These Nassau cops is they think that they are better than everyone and they believe they are above the law.I hope they set an example out of this so called NCPD Scum...
Giambona Jr December 18, 2012 at 03:17 am
They should have an independent review board watching over the NCPD assholes, and maybe they will think twice. They treat us residents like crap.but they are the real crap..
Giambona Jr December 18, 2012 at 03:26 am
I'm 100 percent sure she's a tramp, and a whore but I don't think she put a gun to that scums head to stay .It was that scums choice. When you sleep with fleas you come up with fleas.
bob gee December 18, 2012 at 09:40 pm

Giambona Jr December 19, 2012 at 01:13 am

bob gee December 19, 2012 at 04:06 am
not an officer and i dont eat donuts but it seems like you have some past issues with them maybe you would like to tell us about
Giambona Jr December 20, 2012 at 02:58 am
Bob gee there is no doubt that you are one of that corrupt officers cronies trying to defend his actions.I'm sure that whore will have the last laugh, but I don't agree that she should sue because she participated in it.
Joe December 21, 2012 at 12:54 am
Maybe someone should ask all the MHS Football Team how she was, back in the day? Just trying to save the county from another needless and frivolous lawsuit.
As for the pension. His wife should leave him and take a portion for her and the children. Then go after his portion. Why should his family suffer for his actions. Haven't they suffered enough?
martha December 26, 2012 at 09:48 pm
Scum bucket
Kevin December 26, 2012 at 11:07 pm
He shouldnt be allowed to collect on his pension. He should also payback the taxpayers for all the hours he was "playng" not working. Put his ass in jail and hire someone who is willing to serve and protact.
Kevin December 26, 2012 at 11:09 pm
I sooooooooooo agree with you!!!!!!!!
Giambona Jr December 27, 2012 at 12:27 am
If you look up Michael Tedesco on e courts web crimes.com you can view that officers charges . He has over a hundred charges, let's see if Kathleen Rice does her job by putting this cocky scum where he belongs in jail. Well see how much the district attorneys love that cop..

when you say elite do you mean the hard working people who have money? it's a matter of labels. youRead More call them elite..they call themselves hard workers. yes, some inherit money. but most of us work for it.
Michael Taustine June 16, 2013 at 09:01 pm
No, it has nothing to do with how hard you work. It's just that the elite one percenters are treatedRead More differently when they run afoul of the laws in this country. No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.
Jack coyote June 12, 2013 at 03:24 pm
Will the new Massapequa station platform be covered end-to-end as it is now? If it will only beRead More partially covered, like Seaford station, there are going to be a lot of cold, wet, unhappy commuters.
Patrick O'Hara June 12, 2013 at 04:14 pm
Mr. Coyote, The design plans only call for a canopy over certain parts of the station platform, likeRead More almost all of the other stations along the branch. The canopies will be primarily over the staircases, elevator, waiting room, and one other small section on the middle section of the platform between the elevator and east escalator.

Also blocks along Alhambra Road including Granada and Sutton. It rained the other day and was up toRead More the front lawn on one house that is still being renovated from Sandy!!!! Horrible if those owners saw this.
