Massapequa Crime Report: Woman Scammed in Sweepstakes Hoax

April 24 to April 30.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Grand Larceny

On April 24, a Massapequa woman reported to police that she was scammed by a man who told her she won an international sweepstakes, police said.. The con artist told the woman to pay her a fee using a pre-paid credit card. She sent him the money which he pocketed, police said.

On April 24, Jennilee Tooher, 30 of  Levittown, was arrested at Kohl’s, 5300 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa and charged with grand larceny 4th and petty larceny.

Possession of Stolen Property

On April 26, William Angerame, 20, of Massapequa Park was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property 3rd.

Petty Larceny

On April 24, a Copiague teen was arrested at Sears  at the Sunrise Mall, and charged with petty larceny.

On April 26, a Wyandanch  woman was was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall, Massapequa and charged with petty larceny.

On April 28, a Valley Stream woman was arrested at Walmart at the Sunrise Mall, and charged with petty larceny.

On April 28,a Massapequa woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall, and charged with petty larceny.

On April 28, a Hempstead woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall, and charged with petty larceny.

Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

On April 30, a Lindenhurst woman was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Louden Avenue, Massapequa and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 2nd and one violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
