Massapequa Crime Report: July 4th Assaults

July 4 to July 10.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Assault

On July 4, A Massapequa teen allegedly assaulted someone at a party on West Shore Drive, police said. Taylor Bocchiaro,  17, allegedly punched the victim in the face causing him to fall down and dislocate his shoulder shortly after 10 p.m. Bocchiaro and several other party guests then began to kick the victim, according to police.  Boccharo was arrested the next day and and charged with assault 3rd.

On July 4, an assault occurred Merrick Road near Roxbury Lane in Massapequa, police said. The victim was walking on Merrick  with at 8:15 p.m. when a dark  SUV approached. Someone in the SUV thew a full beer can out the window, striking the victim in the chest, police said.

Grand Larceny

On July 7, Dominick Buoncora, 52 Fresh Meadows, was arrested on HIcksville Road in North Massapequa for allegedly stealing a woman's wallet from her pocketbook. He was charged with grand larceny 4th.

Petty Larceny

On July 7, an Amityville man  was arrested at Pathmark, 941 Carmans Road, Massapequa and charged with petty larceny

On July 9, a West Islip woman was arrested at JC Penny, 600 Sunrise Mall, Massapequa and charged with petty larceny.

On July 9, a  Lindenhurst woman was arrested at JC Penny, 600 Sunrise Mall, Massapequa and charged with petty larceny.

On July 7, a bicycle was stolen from an open garage on Lakeshore Drive, in Massapequa Park, police said.. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m.

No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.
