Massapequa Crime Report: Thefts from Vehicles on Ocean Avenue

Jan. 23- Feb. 5

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Larceny From Auto

On January 24 several larcenies from vehicles were reported on Ocean Avenue in Massapequa Park, police said. A camera and sunglasses were taken from a vehicle around 4 a.m. and EZ Pass Tag was stolen from another vehicle, also at 4 a.m.; undisclosed property was taken from a vehicle between 5 p.m. the night before and 7 a.m.; cash was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between 6 p.m. and 8:45 a.m.; a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between 10 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.; 

On Jan. 24 thefts were reported from two vehicles parked on Westwood Road North between 6:30 p.m. the night before an 10 a.m., police said. In two incidents cash was stolen, while a wallet was stolen in the other incident.

On Jan. 24, electronics were stolen from a vehicle parked on Park Lane between 8 p.m. the previous evening and 8 :30 a.m. police said.

On Jan. 24, an iPod was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Philadelphia Venue, cops said.

On Jan 24, a pocketbook and wallet were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on 1st Avenue, police said. 

On Jan 24, a GPS was reported stolen form a vehicle on Massachusetts Avenue, police said.

On Jan. 25, Cash and papers were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Broadway, police said.

On Jan. 28 items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Merrick Road, police said.

Grand Larceny

On Jan. 26, a pocketbook that was on a coat hanger in Hudson's Mill Restaurant was stolen between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., police said.

On Jan. 30 a wallet was stolen from a pocketbook at JC Penney at the Sunrise Mall, police said.

DWI

On Jan. 23, Josep Papa,  22, of  Levittown was arrested and charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI and one violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
