Massapequa Man Arrested Under Leandra's Law

Father arrested in Amityville with two children in his car.

A Massapequa man was arrested Wednesday for driving drunk in Amityville with two young children in his car, Suffolk County police said.

Police received a tip that David Hager, Jr. might have been driving while intoxicated, and an officer stopped him near the intersection of Ketcham Avenue and Orchard Street.

Hager had his 4-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son in the car with him.

Officers determined Hager was drunk and placed him under arrest, police said.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, which makes it a felony to drive drunk with a child under 15 in the car. Hager was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
