Massapequa Man Strikes Pedestrian

Brentwood man in serious condition after being struck by car late Saturday.

A Massapequa man struck and seriously injured a pedestrian in Central Islip late Saturday, Suffolk County Police said.

Elbin Molina, 31, of Brentwood, was crossing Islip Avenue at Apple Street at approximately 11 p.m. when he was hit by a 2009 Nissan Maxima, police said. The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Torres, 28, of Massapequa, and his two passengers were not injured in the accident.

Police said Molina was transported by ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he is listed in serious condition with leg and head injuries.

The Nissan was traveling northbound on Islip Avenue at the time of the accident, according to police. No one has been charged in the incident.

The vehicle was impounded for safety checks and police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the accident can contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
