Massapequa Park Man Arrested in Bellmore Hit and Run

Cops: Male vicitm was hit by small black car Friday.

A Massapequa Park man was arrested in a fatal hit-and-run near Applebee's on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore at approximately 9:20 p.m. Friday night, cops said.

Ryan P. Quinn, 45, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death.

Quinn will be arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, in Hempstead Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Anthony J. DeRosa, 64, of Floral Park.

According to detectives, DeRosa was crossing Sunrise Highway on foot from south to north in the vicinity of Washington Avenue when he was struck by a smaller model dark colored vehicle, possibly black, that was traveling eastbound in the left lane of Sunrise Highway.

The vehicle left the scene and continued traveling eastbound, police said.

DeRosa was transported by a fire department ambulance to the Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 10:05 p.m

Sunrise Highway was closed in both directions from Centre Avenue to Bedford Avenue until 1:37 a.m. due to the investigation.
