Massapequa Park Man Killed in Fort Salonga Hit and Run

Construction worker killed while loading trailer.

A Massapequa Park construction worker was killed in a hit and run crash in Fort Salonga early Friday, cops said.

Victor Schultz, 45, along with a co-worker, were loading a milling machine onto a trailer on Route 25A near the Sunken Meadow Parkway at 1:35 a.m.

A dark colored SUV traveling west on 25A struck Schultz and fled without stopping.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The co-worker was not injured .

"We are absolutely stunned by what happened," said Kelly Madsen, who worked with Schultz at Intercounty Pavement in Hicksville.

"He wasn't married and had no children. This company was his family."

Madsen, an assistant to the company's owner, said that Schultz had worked there since 2000.

"We hope they catch this person, we can't believe it's a hit and run, she said.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
