Massapequa Police Report: Three Home Burglaries

Dec. 12 to Dec. 23

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Burglary

On Dec. 18, a home was broken into a home on Maple Street in Massapequa, police said. The burglary occurred between 10 a.m. and 4:48 p.m. The thief broke in through the rear door and took jewelry and money.

On Dec.18, a burglar stole a TV from a home on Robert Avenue in Massapequa, police said. The burglay occurred between 7a.m. and 9:20 p.m.

On Dec. 21, a burglar broke into a home on Central Avenue in Massapequa through the Side window at 9:15 p.m. Nothing was taken.

Grand Larceny

Dec. 19, two wallets were taken from the backroom of a store at the Sunrise Mall, police said. The thefts occured at 1:30 p.m.

On Dec. 17, A thief took an iPad and a credit card from JC Penney at the Sunrise mall at around noon, according to police.

On Dec. 20,  Jaclyn Chain, 30, of Patchogue was arrested at Macy's at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Grand Larceny, police said.

On Dec. 23, A person took three TVs from Walmart at the Sunrise Mall. THe thief passed all points of purchase without paying, police said.

Larceny from Auto

On Dec. 18 a wallet was stolen from a car parked at the Sunrise Mall, police said.

Kidnapping Scam

On Dec. 23, a woman received a call from a man who claimed they were holding her son hostage.

No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.
