The Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center will honor Joseph Mottola with the Firefighters Leadership Award Friday at the Museum’s annual Badge of Courage Gala at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center in Uniondale.
Mottola has served on the board of the Nassau County Firefighters Museum for the past year and a half. His participation has been motivated by his support of the Museum’s mission to teach young children about fire safety, his love of the fire service and his appreciation for its history.
He is a member of Massapequa Fire Department, Ladder Co. 2. and has also been a baseball manager with the Massapequa Coast Little League for 12 years.
Mottola is a partner with H2M architects and engineers, where he has specialized in the design of emergency response facilities for more than 25 years. As an active volunteer firefighter for over 30 years, Mottola has a personal appreciation for the needs of firematic and emergency services clients. During his time with H2M, he has been directly involved in more than 125 fire station projects for more than 90 fire service clients.
Mottola is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is licensed in four states. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA); Construction Specifications Institute (CSI); National Fire Protection Association; and NYS Association of Fire Districts.
A lifelong Long Islander, he lives in Massapequa with his wife Susan, and is the proud father of four children: Jessica, Michael, Kerri and Joseph.
