If you think the North Massapequa Fire Department looked sharp at the recent 6th battalion parade, you're not alone.
The NMFS came home with the "Best Overall Appearing Department" award at the annual parade and drill held earlier this month.
The drill was held the night before the Sept. 15 parade and the department's drill team, nicknamed "The Gremlins," were in top form earning trophies in events including the running hose and individual ladder."
“I’m so proud of the effort put forth by the entire membership to make this occasion a complete success,” Chief Robert Schmidgall said.
Schmdgall also praised his department for taking home the best appearing department award.
"With the first rate departments that compete in this event, it is quite an honor to be named best overall," he said. "
"It’s a tribute to the members, who handle themselves professionally and take representing the department and this community very seriously. The 2012 Sixth Battalion Parade and Drill stands as tribute to every volunteer firefighter who has represented this department since 1934. It also represents our intent to proudly build on those traditions in the decades ahead.”
