UPDATE: NYS Police: Teens Involved in Fatal Parkway Crash

Four of the five occupants were killed in Monday's early morning crash.

The occupants of a vehicle involved in a single fatal car crash early Monday morning on the Southern State Parkway in Malverne were all teenagers, according to New York State Police.

The 2012 Subaru Impreza was approaching exit 17N near 4 a.m. when the driver, Joseph Beer, 17, of Queens, reportedly failed to negotiate a curve and lost control of the car. According to police, Beer was driving with a learner's permit. The car left the parkway and struck several trees. The driver and four occupants - all age 18 from Queens - were ejected from the vehicle, police stated.

The four passengers -- Christopher Khan, Neal Rajapa, Peter Kanhai and Darian Ramnarine -- were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was transported to Winthrop Hospital in Mineola where he is currently being treated, police said. The deceased were transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

The investigation is ongoing and NYS Police are asking anyone with additional information to call 561-8492.

I have neighbors who are unconcerned of their kids use of alcohol and pot. They allow it in their homes amongst their friends too. They arrive sober then drive away drunk & high as a kite.. They are age 15-18. Do the parents of their friends know this?? The police have been notified however, are unconcerned here.

Wow, wow, wow. Kids will b kids I agree he could smoke weed, do drugs, drink do what ever he wants, he is a kid. A kid who's too young without a driver licenses to have his own car, it's just wrong, big mistake for Joseph and bigger mistake for the parents of Beer's. Tragic accident and unfortunately these four kids shouldn't have paid for it the way they did. Joseph is still a kid who still needs advice but his parents are not kids they're the one at fault. Mistakes do happen but not like this. Wednesday will b a hard and very difficult day for the Khan's family. May all four of them rest in peace and may the lord protect and guide this young man (Joseph) thru this difficult time in his life. P.S Us as parents need to protect our kids and guide them thru the right path, yes they will make their own decisions but us as parents must put our foot down and help them find their way not giving and encouraging the wrong things.
