Ocean Parkway Closure Possible

Suffolk Police may close the parkway between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. as the search for bodies and evidence in the serial killer investigation continues.

Both lanes of Ocean Parkway from the Robert Moses Causeway to the Meadowbrook Parkway may close temporarily this afternoon, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.,  as part of the continuing search for more human remains and evidence in the serial killer case.

Police issued the alert at 10 a.m. this morning. The advisory states that the southern end of the Wantagh Parkway is also subject to closure in both directions during this time.

Residents of Gilgo Beach, West Gilgo Beach, Oak Beach, Oak Island and Cedar Beach are advised to plan accordingly as there will be no alternate routes to these communities, state police.

There will also be temporary flight restrictions in the area as the FBI is using aircraft as part of the search.
