Nassau County law enforcement and government officials turned out en masse Tuesday on the front lawn of in Mineola to honor the fallen. The somber ceremony took on added meaning after Nassau police lost two officers in the line of duty in the span of a month.

, 40, of Selden, was accidentally shot and killed March 12 by an MTA officer while responding to a crime scene in Massapequa Park. He was a member of the elite Bureau of Special Operations.
