Police: Armed Walmart Shoplifter Arrested

Police say North Bellmore man arrested at Massapequa store late Saturday had loaded .38 caliber hand gun previously reported stolen.

An alleged shoplifter armed with a stolen hand gun was arrested at Walmart in Massapequa late Saturday, according to Nassau County Police.

Alexander Hollinsworth, 25, of North Bellmore, was seen taking DVDs and CDs from the store by security and then detained after he left the building, police said. The incident took place at 9:15 p.m.

Seventh Precinct officers arrived and found Hollinsworth, in addition to the stolen goods, was in possession of a loaded .38 caliber Smith and Wesson hand gun, which was reported stolen in New York City.

Hollinsworth was also armed with metal knuckles, a dagger knife and had numerous prescription pills in a plastic bag his pants pocket, police said.

Police have charged Hollinsworth with three counts of fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of burglar tools and petit larceny.

He will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
