Police Blotter: Phone Filcher at North Massapequa Verizon Store

Nov. 15 to Nov. 21

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's Seventh and Eighth Precinct incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

On November 21,  A man walked into the  on North Broadway and asked about a phone. A store employee told him how much it would cost and the man said his friend was coming in with cash to pay for it.  When the friend arrived, the two men began to ask about accessories to the Droid phone. While the worker was getting the accessories, the customer's friend walked out of the store with the phone, police said. When the employee asked the man where his friend was going, he said, "Don't follow us or you will get hurt."  The phone is worth $600 according to police.

On November 19, a burglar used lawn chairs to jump over a fence and pried open the back door of a home on Garden Avenue in North Massapequa, where he stole jewelry, police said.

On November 19, a burglar broke through the rear door of a home on North Iowa Avenue in North Massapequa and stole $10,000 worth of jewelry from the master bedroom, police said.

On November 19, a man parked his car on Boundary Avenue and North Massapequa  at 6:15 p.m and discovered it was missing when he returned 45 minutes later. It was discovered that the car had been stolen and involved in an accident, police said. Two people suffered minor injuries in the crash and the man who stole the car fled the scene.

On  November 16, a Hempstead man was arrested on Broadway and Front Street, Massapequa Park, and charged with Transporting Cargo Without a Cover and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

On November 17,  a Wantagh woman  was arrested at Macy's at the  Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

On November 18,  a Kings Park woman  was arrested in Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

On November 19, a Massapequa  woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

On November 19,  an  Ozone Park, was arrested on Hicksville Road in Massapequa and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child and Prohibited sale of an Alcoholic Beverage.

On November 20,  a Massapequa woman was arrested at JC Penney at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

On November 20, a Coram woman was arrested at JC Penney at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

On November 20,  a West Babylon man was arrested on Sunrise Highway, Massapequa Park and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Four Violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

 On November 22, an Atlanta woman was arrested on Hemlock St, Massapequa and charged with Driving while Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and three Violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.
