Police Blotter: Plant Theft Arrest at Broadway Nursery

Sept. 14- Sept. 20.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Petty Larceny

On Sept. 18, three people were arrested for pinching plants at the Broadway Nursery, police said. Cops received a call of a theft in progress at about 1:30 a.m. When they got there, they found three people throwing plants over a fence and loading them into a white 1997 Ford that was parked nearby, police said. Police arrested Yvonne E. Peterson, 36, and Paul M. Pizzitola, 35, both of Lindenhurst were charged with petty larceny, while a third member of the gang, Eric J. Gonzalez, was found hiding between two flower beds. He refused to be handcuffed and was charged with resisting arrest, criminal tresspass and petty larceny, police said.

On Sept. 15, a Massapequa woman was arrested  and charged with petty larceny and making a false written statement.

On Sept.17, a Massapequa Park man was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

On Sept. 17, a Massapequa Park woman was arrested at Wal-Mart at the Sunrise Mall and charged with petty larceny.

Assault

On Sept. 17 a Massapequa man was arrested for burglarizing a home on Parkhill Avenue, police said. Justin Lawless alledgedly took silver and jewelry from the house. He was charged with four counts of burglary.

A Massapequa woman was aressted for assault on Sept. 9 after an incident in a cab, police said. Jillian Poole got into the the cab at about 5:15 a.m. on Clocks Boulevard near Merrick Road. She got into an argument with the driver, and allegedly hit him in the mouth with a beer bottle. The driver pulled the cab over, opened the door and ordered Poole to leave, when she smashed the bottle over his head and fled, police said. She was charged with assault.

Burglaries

Sometime between Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, there was a break-in at Aarpn Air Conditioning and Heating at 6300 Merrick Road. Cash was taken.

On Sept. 14, a home was broken into on Hawthorne Street in Massapequa. Nothing was taken, police said.

Criminal Tampering

Sometime during the overnight hours of Sept 16 and Sept 17, somebody sprayed motor oil on 21 vehicles parked on First Avenue in Massapequa.
