Police Blotter: Suspicious Man Poses as Cablevision Employee

July 5 to July12

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's Seventh and Eighth Precinct incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

On July 12, a man posing as a Cablevision employee, was seen skulking around a home on Cedar Shore Drive in Massapequa, police said. The homeowner told cops he was folding laundry when someone rang his doorbell and started banging on his door. When the homeowner came down, he startled a man in his 20s, wearing an illegible ID. When the owner asked the man why he was there, he appeared nervous and claimed he was taking photos for Cablevision. The owner  didn't see a Cablevision truck and the man did not appear to have a camera, police said.  He contacted police,  who spoke to some Cablevision employees who told them that nobody from the company was taking pictures in the area. The owner also discovered that his front window screen was bent out and almost removed from its post. The suspicious man is described as a white male, clean cut with blondish hair wearing a dark blue uniform type pullover shirt and dark blue pants.
