Police Search Causes Lockout at Four Schools

Lockout lifted in time for dismissal.

A police search Thursday prompted the Massapequa School District to initiate lockout procedures in four schools, officials said.

The lockout occured at East Lake, Unqua and McKenna Elementary Schools as well as   A spokeswoman for the Massapequa School District said.

Police said that aviation units were responding to a call for assistance, possibly for a patient who exited an ambulance.

School officials said the lockout procedure, which prevents anyone form the outside from entering the schools, but allows normal activities to continue inside, lasted about 30 minutes. 

Police gave the district clearance to lift the lockdown in time for dismissal, but school officials said there might be some delays
