Police: Stray Attacks Woman, Kills Local Dog

Owner was walking Yorkshire Terrier in Massapequa.

A woman walking her Yorkshire terrier was attacked by a large gray dog who killed her pet, Nassau County Police said.

The incident happened  in the vicinity of Jomarr Place and Division Avenue at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night.

The gray dog knocked the 22-year-old woman to the ground and grabbed the Yorkie by the neck. It was able to pull the smaller dog from the woman's arm, but she was able to fight the attacking dog off and retrieve her pet.

The woman wasn't hurt, but her dog later died from his injuries. Police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the Seventh Precinct at 516-573-6700.
