Preventing Break-ins in Massapequa

There have been a rash of burglaries and vehicle break-ins in the area. Do you take steps to protect your property?

Residents of Massapequa and other communities in Nassau County's 7th Precinct recently received a warning about increases in burglaries and vehicle break-ins.

The west side of precinct has seen a jump in burglaries, while the east side of the precinct has seen a rise in thefts from vehicle.

In response, police issued a list of burglary and break-in prevention tips. Many of them are simple reminders to keep cars, doors and windows locked.

Residents are also reminded to remove valuables and GPS systems from vehicles.

We're wondering if you sweat the small stuff. Do you always remember to leave your vehicles and your doors locked?  What else do you do to protect your property? Let us know in the comment section below.
