The Long Island Rail Road is beginning an experiment with quiet cars. What do you think?

The Long Island Rail Road is beginning an interesting experiment Monday that could change the way you commute in the future.

They've instituted a Quiet Car pilot program that will allow for a quieter environment on some trains.

During peak hours, select trains on the LIRR's Far Rockaway Branch will have a car that will prohibit the use of cell phones and other electronic devices, as well as loud conversations.

Riders will still be allowed to converse quietly. Commuters will be asked to monitor themselves, but conductors will hand cards out reminding those who don't comply to be quiet.
