An Amityville man was arrested for robbery Friday for a 2009 incident in which he scuffled with a supermarket security guard over cases of beer, police said.
David Gilbert, 49, went into the Pathmark at 941 Carmans road on July 6 of that year and loaded several cases of beer into a shopping cart.
But he was confronted by guards when he tried to exit without paying, police said.
As they tried to put handcuffs he swung at one of them, injuring his eye.
Gilbert fled the scene, but after a long investigation, he was arrested in Seaford.
He was charged with robbery in the second degree.
