Shoplifter Assaulted Officer, Left Kids in Car

When a female loss prevention officer approached Coshonda Vanderhall about the stolen goods, Vanderhall allegedly punched her in the face and threw her to the ground.

A Mastic woman was arrested for robbery and endangering the welfare of a child after she allegedly punched a security officer in the face at J.C. Penney Tuesday.

According to cops, at 4:20 p.m., Coshonda Vanderhall, 31, allegedly stole clothing valued at $270 from J.C. Penney at Sunrise Mall. When a female loss prevention officer approached her, police said she punched the officer in the face and threw her to the ground.

Seventh Precinct officers responded to the scene and Vanderhall was placed under arrest. The security officer was taken to the hospital for treatment. During the investigation, cops found out Vanderhall allegedly left her 10 year-old daughter and 15 month-old son in the car while she was inside.

Her children were released to a family member.

Vanderhall has been charged with third-degree robbery and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.Her arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
