Suspect Arrested for Robbing Women at Local Hotels

Nassau County Police charge Anthony A. Leazer Jr. with string of armed robberies, including incident at Best Western in Massapequa Park.

Nassau County Police say they caught the man responsible for multiple hotel robberies in Nassau County including one committed at the at Best Western in Massapequa Park earlier this year. 

Anthony A. Leazer Jr., 29, of Hempstead, was arrested and charged with robbing a 23-year-old woman on the afternoon of May 3 at the Lynbrook Holiday Inn Express located on Sunrise Highway.

According to detectives, Leazer allegedly knocked on the victim's door and when she opened it, he displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and pushed his way into the room. Leazer then allegedly demanded cash and forced the victim to the floor, according to police. After obtaining an unknown amount of cash, he then fled from the room in an unknown direction. There were no injuries reported.

Police said Leazer allegedly knocked on the door of a 28-year-old female victim at the Best Western hotel at 5080 Sunrise Hwy in Massapequa Park on May 14 at 8:25 p.m. When the victim opened the door, police say Leazer displayed a black handgun and began to push the victim back into the room. A male guest next door heard the commotion and exited his room, causing Leazer to flee on foot without any proceeds. There were no injuries reported in this case.

In addition to this crime, Leazer was also charged with robbery and menacing in regards to an incident that occured on May 7 at 1:40 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn located at 699 Dibble Dr. in East Garden City.

Police say Leazer entered the room of a 20-year-old female victim, again displaying a black handgun, ordered the victim to lie on the floor and demanded her money. When he exited the room, the victim locked the door, but Leazer allegedly banged on it and attempted to re-gain entry to the room. The victim then jumped out of the window and suffered serious injuries while Leazer fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

An investigation led to a Grand Jury indictment of Leazer, and he was charged with one count of first-degree Robbery, two counts of second-degree Robbery, and first and second degree Menacing. He was arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
