A vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on Merrick Road Tuesday afternoon, closing down traffic in the westbound lane, authorities said.
The single-car accident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. along Cedar Shore Drive and Merrick Road, right in front of . It involved a black, late-model Ford sports utility vehicle.
Authorities confirmed at least one injury to a Nassau County police officer, who hurt their ankle helping one of the occupants out of the vehicle. The injury required the officer to be taken to a local area hospital.
It is currently unknown what caused the accident, or if more than one vehicle was involved.
