This is not a complete list. My daughter's car had it's rear window broken Thursday night and the police officer said there was another one on Carmans Road and one on Lake Shore. Whoever is doing this should be caught and locked up.

They need to catch these losers first. I don't know how many times I have wrote on the pages about more patrol cars in the back streets doing patrol rather than parked at the firehouses, Lirr stations, Tob bldg on Carmen's road and many, other locations to long to list. This is a slap in the face to everyone who lives here. Does anyone know if the 7th pct has a community meeting? Something needs to be done, because Nassau 7th can't handle it , which is A joke. This is the suburbs , if they can't handle this then they shouldn't be cops.

Ed, unlike the city where the cops don't get any respect like they deserve from the community they serve or the City or Department they serve, Nassau does get that and is paid higher for doing a much less dangerous job that they aren't able to handle.Their Department and community has backed them up for years and what has that gotten us? Most of them don't do what is needed from a police officer and it is hurting a community that has been a great place to live. They need some good supervisors who know how to get things done.I feel bad for the officers from Nassau who do their job everyday and aren't a bunch of do nothing's., it must be hard to work with a bunch of zeros.

Massa: I've been told that, because of the relatively low crime rate, the 7th precinct does not attract the brightest bulbs in the pack. The sharpest cops are needed and willing to serve Hempstead, Freeport, Roosevelt, Elmont, Levittown (to name a few). The odds of receiving a promotion are greater in a high-risk neighborhood. Those not willing to take the strong risk would rather serve in towns like Massapequa, Seaford, Wantagh, Merrick, Syosset (to name a few). My brother served Suffolk County (the highest paid) and those were his words when he graduated 1st in his class at the Academy. He chose Patchogue...that was the worst in those days (next to Wyndanch). He left a few years ago, having been promoted several times to Lieutenant...at full wage rate...with benefits for a lifetime!

Massa, city cops are less qualified...they have no background check, many have prior arrests, and there is no polygraph. You sound like a bitter city cop who couldn't get on Nassau or Suffolk since all your posts relate to bashing either department.

Concerned you are clueless...police are promoted by exam. Not by where they work

when you say elite do you mean the hard working people who have money? it's a matter of labels. youRead More call them elite..they call themselves hard workers. yes, some inherit money. but most of us work for it.
Michael Taustine June 16, 2013 at 09:01 pm
No, it has nothing to do with how hard you work. It's just that the elite one percenters are treatedRead More differently when they run afoul of the laws in this country. No one has been jailed for the corporate malfeasance that resulted in the financial crash of '08, in spite of the rules that were ignored or broken. Too big to fail is the order of the day. Meanwhile, petty frauds committed by poor and middle class are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Two Americas. The rule of law, unevenly applied, whether by race, or class, or economic station will result in the unraveling of society. We may well be seeing the beginnings of that now, as we've entered a new gilded age, where new robber barons are allowed to run roughshod over the lower classes. The very ideals of America are at stake, and we are letting them slide away.

Will the new Massapequa station platform be covered end-to-end as it is now? If it will only beRead More partially covered, like Seaford station, there are going to be a lot of cold, wet, unhappy commuters.
Patrick O'Hara June 12, 2013 at 04:14 pm
Mr. Coyote, The design plans only call for a canopy over certain parts of the station platform, likeRead More almost all of the other stations along the branch. The canopies will be primarily over the staircases, elevator, waiting room, and one other small section on the middle section of the platform between the elevator and east escalator.
