Weigh in on Heroin in the Area

Three young men from the area were arrested in what police say appears to be a heroin related case. How should Massapequa combat the drug?

A scam involving Home Depot and gift cards led to the arrests of three young men from the area including a 25-year-old Massapequa man.

The men are accused of returning stolen  goods to the home improvement store in exchange for gift cards which were later sold to a pawn shop.

But the final step in the scam is extremely troubling. Police said they arrested the men after they used the money from the scam to buy a substance believed to be heroin.

There has been much concern about the impact of heroin on Long Island in  recent years and we want to know your thoughts on the problem.

How big a problem do you think heroin use is in the area? Do you think it will grow or decline in coming years? Do you think enough is being done to combat heroin use? Is there something more you'd like to see done?
