DA: Former Wantagh Man Pleads Guilty to Scamming…

Weigh in on Vehicle Thefts

Thefts have been on the rise in the area. How concerned are you?

Area residents are being urged to be more cautious in keeping their vehicles secure.

A recent rash of thefts involving vehicles has caused police to issue a warning and advice on how to protect your car.

There have been at least 33 thefts in the Seventh precinct since April and there have also been thefts in neighboring areas such as Farmingdale,  cops have said.

We want to know how concerned you are about this. Take our poll below and weigh in with your comments.

We need more patrol in Massapequa and Massapequa park. On Tuesday night at around 9pm , why were their 3 marked police vehicles at the town of oyster bay dept works building on Carmens road in Massapequa? These guys start their tours at 7pm and work until 7am, you don't get a dinner break 2 hours into your tour.......it is insulting that this crap continues when the 7th just got caught up with all the other nonsense that they have gotten away with for years. I don't want to hear , well maybe they were their getting gas,. They were no where to be scene when I passed. And even if they had one car on break, why are their 3 cars their. Why do you think cars are being broken into? These from the 7th have it easy and should be transferred to busy cOmmands in Nassau. If they don't want to work, send them to Elmont or Roosevelt where they have to work. The hard working officers of Nassau PD are getting a real bad name from some of these slackers, and it is a real shame.why should we respect them in the 7th when they don't have respect for the people who they serve?

At least now they are actually taking police reports for the cars being broken into. I live in Massapequa my car was broken into in my driveway the perpetrator was still in my car when I went outside, I called 911 with a complete description. The police showed up I gave them a description, again and told them I could positively ID the perpetrator. I waited, they never returned so could file a report. I found out the next day the perpetrator broke into several cars in my area. The 7th pct police caught the guy and sent him on his way by giving him a lift to the train station!

Lets see if the PATCH lets people Post pictures of the cops every time we see them parked bullshitting with each other while the peoples cars who pay their 125K PLUS Salaries cars keep getting broken into. Its not bad enough they just sit parking with the cars running all night wasting gas, if the cars running the wheels should be moving up and down each block showing a presence. The first Post from Massa is right but not only 3 cars I see 4 and even 5 at a time parked side by side while our cars and houses are burglarized on a nightly basis ...

Wow alot of hatred for cops....if you're so smart why didn't you become a police officer? I guess cops are supposed to work for 12 hours straight without a meal break or the ability to use the bathroom. I doubt any of you complainers work for a living and if you do I doubt you work non-stop from 9-5 without a break. Perhaps if you called 911 when you see a suspicious car or person in your neighborhood the police would be able to catch more of these criminals. BTW many of these criminals breaking into cars are your "SONS and DAUGHTERS" looking for quick cash for their next score of heroin. Perhaps if you pay more attention to your children, rather than where a cop is parked, Massapequa would be a safer place.
