Sunrise Highway has a sordid history as far it its record of safety is concerned.
A study from the Tri-State Transportation Campaign named Sunrise Highway as being one of two major roads that run through Massapequa that count among the area's most hazardous.
Most recently, on Tuesday of this week a brought East and Westbound traffic to a standstill, and on Dec. 22, 2011, an while crossing Sunrise Highway during rush hour.
