Air Quality Alert Issued

Residents advised to limit outdoor physical activity through 11 p.m.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality alert for the Syosset area that will last until 11 p.m Wednesday.

With the air quality index rising in excess of 100, the New York State Department of Health suggests that all residents limit strenuous outdoor physical activity. Young children and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease may be more susceptible.

Those interested in updated information on air quality can call the state's toll-free hotline at 1-800-535-1345.
