Altadonna 'Honored to be Mentioned' for Town Clerk Role

Village of Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna says he's "honored to be mentioned," in connection with a possible appointment as Oyster Bay Town Clerk.

A report published in Newsday (paid site)  says that Altadonna is considered a lock to fill the position in vacated by Steve Labriola in February.

Altadonna, who was sworn in for his seventh term as mayor just 10 days ago, has been under consideration by Republicans for several elected positions including Town Clerk, according to sources.

He presided over the aftermath of Sandy and has been a frequent critic of the Long Island Power Authority's response following major storms.

He has been working to bring a hospital facility to the village and has also outlined beffing up police protection and infrastructure as priorities in Massapequa Park.

The Town is also looking to fill the seat vacated by Councilwoman Elizabeth Faughnan, who resigned earlier this month.

Sources told Newsday that Sea Cliff Mayor Bruce Kennedy, Oyster Bay resident and former county legislature candidate Donald MacKenzie and Plainview lawyer Lou Imbroto were being considered for that seat.

There's no deadline for the Town to pick replacements and they can choose not to appoint anyone and wait for voters to choose replacements in November.

A source said Town Democrats haven't decided yet on who will run for open town positions, but said that Farmingdale School Board member who was a candidate for Town Supervisor  in 2011 is mulling another run.
